Happy Birthday with the Painted Poppies Suite

You may have noticed that I'm using the Painted Poppies Suite a fair bit at the moment - I love it!  I keep seeing so many gorgeous cards around that are made from it, and so I keep being inspired.

I used the Memento ink to stamp the flowers on the front layer of red before I did anything else, then I stamped the single flower using the same ink. I coloured the flower with Light and Dark Real Red Blends, and the stem and leaf with the  Light Old Olive Blend.

A Clean and Simple Sympathy Card

There are always times in our lives when those we know are touched by grief. Being able to give a handmade sympathy card adds to the heartfelt nature of giving the card. We can't change what has happened for that person, but our words can let them know they aren't alone in their grief.

I saw a variation of this card on Pinterest, and I liked it so much I made it.

I've the background writing is a stamp from the Very Versailles stamp set, and the picture is from the Painted Poppies set.  I've coloured them in using the Light Real Red Blend.
The sentiment is heat embossed with the White Embossing Powder, and the sentiment itself is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.

In this picture you can just see that I've decorated the inside of the card as well - I stamped the flowers from the front along the base of the insert on the inside, and coloured them using the same Light Real Red Blend.  A lovely touch when you open the card.

Sail Away with a Pop of Green!

You may have realised that I work best in the 'Clean and Simple' style of crafting. I like white space, and I like 'un-fussy' cards.

Here's another example of an un-fussy card that I made a wee while ago, and it's perfect for the man in your life!

Although there's no 'white space' as such on this card, it still couldn't be called fussy.  To get the colour wash behind the pictures I used an Aqua Painter along with Balmy Blue ink.  I've owned the Aqua Painters for a while, but this is actually the first time I've used them.  I was mad to not use them before, and they're already being put to very good use in my craft room.

The Sailing Home stamp set alongside the coordinating dies (Smooth Sailing) were how I made the pictures and cut out the anchor, and the sailboat.  The compass was cut out using one of the Layering Circles Dies.  And that pop of green - that's Granny Apple Green, and it looks almost good enough to eat here!

Have a fantastic Thursday!

Timeless Tulips - Just Timeless

I love the elegance of this card, it really doesn't need anything much said about it at all.  I chose not to add a sentiment, however you could easily put one on there.  It could be a Birthday Card, a Sympathy Card, or a 'Just Because' Card.

See what I mean?  It's just one stamp set, two colours of ink, two colours of cardstock and an embossing folder.  I also used a Stitched Rectangle Die.

If my card inspires you to make your own card, here are the products I used to make it.

Saying Thank You In Style

This card is inspired by one that Narelle Farrugia made - in fact mine is almost a replica, but I loved hers so much, I just had to make it.

I love the Pool Party that provides all the colour to this card, and I did make one change from Narelle's original - I used the Subtle Embossing Folder on the card front, although I wasn't able to get it to show in the photo.

I've used the Painted Poppies stamp set, and my sentiment comes from the Peaceful Moments set.

I fussy cut the flowers and the leaves, and I used a sponge dauber to apply the colour.

I'm not generally very good at fussy cutting, so I was quite impressed with my efforts for this card.

Thank you cards are so lovely to send, and so lovely to receive.  They always bring a smile to my face.
